Have you seen those people who just go at it at life and do exactly what they want without any fear? Do you see them getting what they truly desire and connecting and reaching out with many people but you just feel like you remain stagnant?

In this article I want to share with you a big fear that is holding us back and how to move through it. Fear of failure is something that keeps all of us from truly stepping into our own true power. In this article I’m going to share with you where the fear of failure stems from and why we have it, and then how to move through it so you can create the type of life that you want for yourself here on earth.

Simply put, the fear of failure stems from our perception of what others think about us. We want to succeed and expand in life, as all humans naturally do, however we also want to feel safe, loved, and cherished. Another thing that all humans naturally want. And the disconnect comes when we think that expanding and succeeding will actually keep us from feeling safe, loved, and cherished. So what happens? We make up excuses or lies to stay small. Our mind can be incredibly clever and sneaky when our soul or consciousness wants to expand.

On a deep level we want to get better. And it takes taking risks to get better and create a better life for ourselves. However, if we’re like most normal humans we get scared and stuck when it comes to actually taking the action. Why? Fear of failure. Because many of us are actually afraid to fail because we think to ourselves, “What will other people think of me? How will my friends and family perceive me?” You see the issue isn’t really about us. It’s about other people. That’s why the best thing you can do for yourself is learn to stop thinking about what other people think and just focus on mastering yourself. Your own being. Your own craft. The most successful individuals are never focusing on others, or what their family or friends think, or what other people think. They’re simply doing what they think is best despite how others might react or feel.

We fear failure because we think we might lose all the precious resources that we have if we take it risk. Those resources can be monetary resources, emotional resources such as love or affection, or even social capital such as respect. Whatever the resource may be we fear failure because to “fail” means to lose whatever it is that thing we most desire.

I’m going to take a minute to turn failure on its head. What if failure was actually the way to success? What if failure is inherit in the very structure of being successful. Whatever success in life may look to you. If you’re taking risks and trying new behaviors then failure is inevitable. You will fail. Acknowledge it. The quickest way through failure is too acknowledge that you’ll do it again and again. That’s what it means to get better at something.

Let’s say that you’re a professional basketball player and your practicing free throw shots. You miss a lot. Each miss is a failure. However, in the very process of missing or “failing” your taking shots and getting closer to succeeding. Every failed shot gives you feedback on how to get better if you’re doing it consciously. That’s the other key piece.

Be aware and be conscious of your actions and what you’re doing. If you’re not taking deliberate action and then looking for the proper feedback to adjust your process then you’re not going to make as big as leaps forward to success as another person. Each “failure” on your part will bring you feedback. And the best thing we can do is take in that feedback, integrate, and then apply it which brings a closer to the success that we are looking for.

Failure is nothing to be scared of because it’s something that is going to happen. The important piece here is to recognize that you will fail and fall but also to know this ahead of time so when you do you can have the courage and strength to get back up. Each time you get back up from a failure you will feel stronger and more capable. And hopefully, if you’ve failed consciously, you’ll come up with a bit more wisdom and knowledge then before which will bring you closer to that success.

What things have you failed in the past? What things are you failing in now but want to get better at? Drop a comment and let me know what you’re thinking.

Deepest Blessings and Pranams!
