Do you ever feel like everything around you is happening way too fast? Do you ever get the feeling that life is on fast forward and you wish you could slow it down but can’t.

In this article I’m going to share with you why we feel like everything moves too fast, how to slow things down a bit, and how to get back into the present moment of living.

We live in a chaotic world where everything happens at a million miles per minute. Everything around us is changing so quickly. Stores goes up and businesses go out of business. Technology expands and becomes increasingly more complicated and changes the way we interact and communicate with the world.

We look out and see an everchanging world that develops quicker then we can keep up with it. And what do we tell ourselves? “I have to move faster, or I’ll miss it all.”

We feel like we’re moving so fast because the world appears like it’s moving fast. Everything seems to be developing so rapidly. However, nothing could be further from the truth. The world actually moves very slow, incredibly slow. The perception that it moves fast is really just an illusion.

Look around you. Everything that you see started with a process. The clothes you’re wearing, the shoes you have on. All these things first existed in someone’s mind. Then a long elaborate process started. Materials were taken from the earth, then sent to a factory to be constructed, then sent to a designer, and then finally sent to a packaging company. And then after that to storage inside of a store that is then neatly placed in front of you with some fancy lighting to make you more inclined to buy. Everything you see being created around you took years to get to where it is. It’s just that we see the world changing around us and all this happening that we think to ourselves, “Man I must be behind I need to catch up!” You don’t need to catch up. If anything you need to slow down. Slow is steady and smooth is fast.

Realize that it takes time, energy, practice, and effort to be good at something. Everyone that is rewarded in public worked years behind the scenes. They spent years perfecting and practicing their art and craft. We live in a culture that sells us that we can have things right away and overnight.

While we can easily get a house, degree, loan, or practically anything physical with nothing more then a signature when it comes to the more valued things in life realize that it will take time, effort, persistence, and patience. It takes years to build a reputation in an industry. It takes years to master something that you’re good at. It takes years to accomplish what you truly want to accomplish and meet your goals.

Life takes time. Life is long. If you’re young and trying to “make” it in the world realize that the world took time to build. I know that we’re growing up in this crazy age where everything seems to happen so fast but realize that it isn’t. It’s just another illusion. We’ve been brought up to believe that we can have everything that we’ve ever wanted like that. But what happens when the things you want are deeper things, like a strong business with a good reputation, or a strong relationship built on trust and love. All these things take time. It takes time to learn to be successful and it takes time to build relationships. Everything of value, true and deep value that is, takes time.

So how do we slow things down a bit?

We realize that everything of worth takes time to build. And I daresay that that is the very nature of worth or what makes something worthwhile. Time and precious energy where put into whatever that thing is for years and then finally it is deemed valuable by the public. Don’t fall into the lies of our modern culture that says you can have everything you want whenever you want.

You can’t. There are a lot of things that you can but when it comes to the deeper worthwhile things of life it takes time. That’s what makes them worthwhile. Which relationship do you value most, one that took a day to build or one that took years. I think it’s fair to say the one that took years to build. So take it easy. Slow down. Don’t rush into trying to create your life. Live your life first and realize that everything you desire is going to happen. You wouldn’t have been given the desire if it wasn’t meant to happen. Take a couple of deep breaths and slow down. Ironically, when we slow down we’re able to realize perceive and see life the way it is. And that’s what gets us back into the flow of life itself.

Deepest Blessings and Pranams
