Are you going through the Spiritual Awakening process and find that your body can no longer eat heavy foods such as meats, or dairies such as milk and cheese? Are you undergoing a lot of dietary changes? Is it like anything you eat that is too heavy or too much your system gets overwhelmed and you start feeling exhausted and tired?

In this article I will cover the role of dietary changes in the spiritual awakening process and why we are forced to change our diet. In the next article I will go into what foods are best for you as you go throughout the awakening process and how to successfully navigate the awakening process so your body can come out on the other side purified and refined.

Spiritual awakening can be caused by so many things such as severe trauma, a loss of a relationship, yogic and meditation practice or simply just because the divine was ready to wake up within you.

It can be a very confusing time because energetically we are being rewired. When we get rewired at the energetic level all other levels change too, the physical, emotional, and mental. It can be overwhelming because it forces us to live our lives in a very different manner and we may have trouble giving up our old patterns because they can be very deeply embedded within us somatically from our past environments and conditioning as well as our ancestor.

Simply put, our body is a memory stick that records our past environments. And when the spiritual awakening process happens we start getting new software downloads. In order to get new software downloads, we have to throw off the old memories. These can be the memories of our past but also of our ancestors.

The digestive system is an incredibly unique system in and of itself that plays a huge part in spiritual awakening. In the West we give credit to the brain, in the East we give credit to the heart, but very rarely to we give proper credit to the digestive system. The digestive systems plays so much more in our lives than simply just digesting food. The digestive system digest emotions. It digests the emotions of people, places, and communal events. This is why when the spiritual awakening process starts to happen we start to have a lot of stomach issues and can feel overwhelmed and sick.

Much of the spiritual process is about healing the emotional body. If you’ve lived in the West then you probably stuffed a lot of your emotions away and your emotional body is in need of deep healing. When it starts to heal your digestive system kicks in and starts to digest the unprocessed emotions of your past.

Think about the last time you had a big breakup with someone or a very emotional time with your family. You didn’t eat for days on end right? You don’t feel hungry! This is because your body needs to process the emotions of the experience which can be overwhelming. Your stomach is doing so much work to process everything that is happening that you cannot tax the body. The body sends signals to the brain that say, “Hey, I’am too busy right now and I need all the energy I can to process everything that is happening emotionally.”

People think that it isn’t healthy to stop eating. Nothing can be further from the truth.

The best thing you can do for your body is to take intermittent periods where you don’t eat anything for 24 hours.

At least once a month you should fast to allow your body to get rid of accumulated toxins that have built up within the system. In the yogic tradition the day in which you do this is called Ekkadashi. This is because on this day there is a spike, or a bit of more information kicking down through the systems of all humans which allows us to go without food. When you take that one day a month to starve your system it gives your system time to drain out everything that is no longer serving it. If you’re eating all the time then your body cannot use the energies to burn out accumulated toxins because all the energy is going to digest your food.

Many great masters and yogis don’t ever need to eat because they have learned or conditioned their bodies to live off of pranic and divine energy.

Jesus was an adapt yogi who could go for long periods of fasting because his connection to the divine was so strong. His body was nourished by his connection to the divine and this influx of energy and divine connection allowed him to do great miracles. His energy was so high that he was able to manipulate physical matter, a feat accomplished by well yogis.

In the next article I’am going to go over the reasons why certain foods are not aligned with the spiritual awakening path and how they prohibit you from evolving into your deepest nature. Then, I will give you a list of foods that are extremely beneficial for your own awakening process.

Deepest Blessings and Pranamams to you all!
