Awakenings: The Different Types of Awakenings and Why We Have Them

In this article I'am going to go over and describe the types of spiritual awakenings one can have. They all vary in degree,intensity, and type. And if your in a spiritual awakening this video will help you gauge as to where you are at in your own spiritual process.

The 1st awakening is a psychic awakening. This is what happen when our psychic abilities also called siddhis in the yogic tradition, start to make themselves available to us. The psychic awakening is an example of a top down awakening which can be very confusing and challenging because our crown and third eye open up so we can get an influx of information and can hear many different voices. This happens when an individual isn't grounded in their own being.

This happens for alot of people who have had trauma as their energy feels safer to live up in the ether or sky away from the immediate contact of the ground. Typically in spiritual and yogic traditions individuals will awaken from the ground up. This keeps people in reality. It builds a stable platform in which an individual can launch themselves into the cosmos and divine. The divine can pour down into a stable container. But if that container isn't formed or fit well, ready for download it can lead to disaster and spiritual emergency. When done correctly, starting with the ground chakra the energy of awakening slowly rises up through the chakras and cleanses impurities. The individual can stay grounded with fewer problems. The energy integrates with the body instead of scattering around in the mind.

The kundalini awakening is an intense awakening that involves emotional upheaveal, the inability to function, and physical ailments, aches, and pains. The kundalini energy erupts from the base of spine like a volcano and blasts out uneeded impurities and cleanses the chakras.

This results in a massive amount of information being processed in a short amount of time. The conditioned layers of ourselves and the masks are ripped off so the awakened self can appear and emerge in the world. When the kundalini truly awakens it never dissipates. It is permanently awakened in the body and from here on out you will always be releasing information to be processed and cleared whether it is traumas from past lives, ancestral traumas, or even integrating and channeling cosmic energies. You might find yourself moving into spontaneous yoga postures, doing hand mudras, and speaking in different languages. Many of the movements are uncontrollable. The whole cosmos exists within the human body and when this energy wakes up sometime the cosmos comes through our physical vessel and does things that our personality never believed could happen.

Shamanic Awakenings are for people who are called to be Shamans, while fairly rare they can be quite intense because the shamans job can be difficult. They act as spiritual lawyers between the cosmos and communities.

Or between people and nature and the various forms of life itself. Usually the calling to be a shaman starts from a death experience. Being a shaman is a calling that you are initiated into by the divine or spirit realms. It is a dangerous and messy job. Shamans are natural healers using every method from massage to herbology. They can escort souls who have died. They have a huge life and death responsibility to the community. If your having a shamanic awakening you will be having lost of other beings visit you, you'll experience nonphysical teachers in your dreams or in altered states of consciousness, and you will feel a pull to be in nature. Furthermore, you will go through difficult initiations in the spirit realm. Shamans are kind of like superhuman because they are expected to be fully grounded in physically reality yet they can traverse the various spiritual realms going into the light and into the dark. Shamans have great access to power and therefor have great responsibilities. Shamans have an interest in healing and many modern day shamans have an interest in wholistic health. They're natural hands on healers. They will have a natural pull to using herbs and plants. A shamanic calling is unique in the sense because everything else will seem to go wrong in our lives until we can admit and accept that we are shamans. The spirits around us will make everything go wrong until we realize that we are shamans. Furthermore, those in the shamanic calling will undergo tests and initiations until they are fully recognized by the spirit realm and adhere to their calling. A shamanic awakening is about a calling to be a healer. Usually you will experience dismemberment dreams and be surrounded by both light and dark spirits because you will learn how to balance these forces. The four big signs to a shamanic calling are, if you've had a near death experience, need to be with nature, feel your called to heal, and have dreams of spiritual teachers or dismemberment.

Occult awakenings happen when we go into spirituality through witchcraft, magic, or other occult practices.

It allows us to come into contact with personal and spiritual power. It leads us into working with different spiritual energies and beings, also getting insights. In an occult awakening a person will feel drawn to practice the occult and then will find themselves in situations where they're interacting with high level spirits and energies that change the way they view the world and our in relationship to it. Occult awakenings take time as studying and learning knowledge are integral part of this path. You have to learn rituals, methods of communication, and develop relationships with forces outside of conditioned reality. It's important to stay connected to the self as one can easily get carried away into different spirits and communities in an occult awakening. Communities and books only can go so deep in awakenings.

Religious awakenings are those awakenings that amplify a person's traditional spirituality. For instance, they might go through a harsh period of time and realize that they have forgotten about their spiritual nature.

They realign with this nature working with a certain deity, under a certain religion. This can bring on new energies and feelings of meaning and a person can easily get carried away and swept up by the current of emotion, such as in Pentecostal churches. However, when people start to experience that deity or spirit directly they realize they no longer need to go to an intermediary like a church or a priest and instead will communicate directly. Some people may hear the direct voice of god and think that they are going crazy. Some shut down this connection out of fear and social stigmas. After a religious awakening a person reorients their entire life to serve god and man. They feel very humbled.

Walk-ins are awakenings that happen quite rarely but can be scary for families and friends. This happens usually after a severe trauma or after someone has attempted suicide.

The physical being was having to much trouble coping with reality for whatever reason and so they attract another entity who agree to embody them and help them through their experience, or simply like possession, they will take over that person completely. It is common to think possession is a bad thing due to our cultural conditioning given to us by Hollywood horror films but this isn't true. Very gentle and beautiful beings may come through and agree to help that person. They take the reigns so to speak until that person can cope with their reality. However, it can go the other way as well. Sometimes dark and malevolent beings will wish to come in and achieve their own agendas. If a person isn't strong enough in their own power this can happen. The relationship can be either symbiotic where an agreement is made by both parties or it can be malevolent where a being attaches to the human. Many of the times in this awakening people will feel lots of pains due to the energies trying to compress into the human form. It's like trying to squeeze and orange into a glass of orange juice. Being human is a tremendous opportunity and other beings may want a body to carry out their own agendas and desires. Non-human origin awakenings are awakenings that lead us back to where we truly came from or where we were born within this universe or another. Being human is such a temporary experience in the grand scheme of things.

Many of us our different species that have picked up bodies from the earth to have a certain experience within a certain range. We may feel very out of place in the world and in the community wherever we go and learning our true origins and the reason as to why we incarnated here can help us understand ourselves better and our place within the universe.

It also opens us up to a deeper healing and allow ourselves to work with the energy of our origins. We may remember our families from our real homes and remember the journey to earth and why we took it up in the first place.
